The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Bold Assassin, trained by Henry de Bromhead, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race
The Stewards requested a report from Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Thunderosa, placed first, as compared with its most recent run. James A. Griffin, Authorised Representative for the trainer concerned stated that his charge got no light in a big field last time out at fairyhouse on the 27th of February and ran no race as a result, but the smaller field today with more daylight had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation given.
An extended handicap hurdle for five years old and upwards (130 = 11st 10lbs)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 11st 10lbs and the minimum weight shall not be less than 9st 12lbs
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 5lb extra for each hurdle race won.
