The Stewards interviewed J.S. McGarvey, rider of King Leon, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found J.S. McGarvey in breach of Reg. 10 4. by failing to give his mount time to respond to the whip and having taken his good record into account the Stewards cautioned the rider regarding his future whip use. P.M. Cloke, trainer of Bellgrove, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge scoped wrong post race N Dooly, trainer of Jansboy (GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have burst a blood vessel on post race examination

A novice steeplechase for five yrs old and upwards that are EBF eligible and which at entry are RATED 123 OR LESS (also open to horses rated 123 or less in hurdle races that do not have a published handicap steeplechase rating)
Weights - 5-y-o 11st; 6-y-o and up 11st 3lb
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase 4lb extra; Of two steeplechases 7lb extra; Horses that have not run in two steeplechases (or have not run in three hurdle races) and/or do not have a published handicap steeplechase or hurdle rating may enter and run at the discretion of the handicapper provided their performances in steeplechases and/or hurdle races are rated 123 or less.
