An enquiry was held to consider interference on the final bend into the home straight involving Newtown Lad (IRE), placed third, ridden by Brendan Powell, Boughtbeforelunch (IRE), placed second, ridden by Richie McLernon and Boy's On Tour (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Stephen Mulqueen.
Mulqueen was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to shift left-handed towards the rail for a sustained period without sufficient correction, causing interference to Boughtbeforelunch (IRE) and Newtown Lad (IRE).
The winner Ballymalin (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Warwick on 24 September 2019 where the gelding finished sixth of nine runners, beaten by 27 lengths.
Nigel Twiston-Davies's explanation that the gelding stripped fitter following his first run back from a 218 day break was noted.
Ballymalin (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Jonjo O'Neill Jr.
reported that Oathkeeper (IRE), which was pulled up, lost his action after jumping the first three fences; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
