The Stewards enquired into possible interference after the final fence involving Mackeys Forge, ridden by I.J. McCarthy, placed second and Wrong Turn, ridden by S.A. Shortall, placed first. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the judges placings and took no further action. The Stewards interviewed I.J. McCarthy, rider of Mackeys Forge, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that I.J. McCarthy was in breach of R10(3)(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency, and also R10(4) in that he had failed to give his mount time to respond. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended I.J. McCarthy for three race days. .

Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap to carry 4lb extra for each such steeplechase won.
Riders - Confined to Professional under I.N.H.S. Rules who have not lost the right to claim the allowance under Rule 52 (iii). Allowances (up to and including 25th December and which are not cumulative) who have not ridden the winners of 25 *races allowed 4lb Those who have not ridden the winners of 40 *races allowed 2lb No allowance to riders under Rule 52 (iii) may be claimed.
