An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference from ½ furlong out when the winner, Chairman, ridden by Sean Levey, interfered with Valsad (IRE), placed second, ridden by Trevor Whelan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Chairman’s placing as Valsad (IRE) lost little to no momentum because of being intimidated off its intended line and Chairman always appeared to be holding Valsad (IRE) with a neck between them at the line.
Levey was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left-handed for a sustained period without sufficient correction intimidating Valsad (IRE) off its intended line.
