The Stewards requested a report from A. Oliver, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Mega Fortune (FR), placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge is a very big green type that has taken time to strengthen up and mature. He felt the horse had benefited from the experience of its previous run which enabled him to race more prominently. This in his opinion, had brought about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
An extended handicap for three yrs old only (80 = 9st 12lb)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won. Any horse rated above 80 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 12lb. Subsequently, the excess over 80 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse.
