The Social Distancing Officer reported that they had observed a breach of the COVID-19 protocols by Jordan Nailor when the rider had been in the stable yard to saddle Equus Millar (IRE) prior to the race.
The Social Distancing Officer, an Equine Welfare and Integrity Officer and the rider were interviewed.
It was found that Nailor had twice been found not to be wearing a medical face covering, despite the Social Distancing Officer requesting the rider to abide by the guidelines.
Nailor was therefore fined £140 for breaching the COVID-19 protocols and asked to re-familiarise himself with the guidelines and reminded that these are in place to safeguard all who are present at the fixture.
A query was raised to consider why Ian Williams was running Always Resolute (GB) here at Newbury on going described as Good, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Doncaster on Friday 5 March 2021 on ground with the same official description.
The representative of the trainer stated that, in their opinion, the ground at Doncaster was too loose for Always Resolute (GB) but were happier with conditions at Newbury.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Aintree My Dream (FR), unplaced, was struck into on its left-fore.
