Sean Quinlan, the rider of the winner, Flammarion (GER) was suspended for 2 days for using his whip down the shoulder in the forehand from the site of the last hurdle.

Shortly after the position of the final hurdle and again shortly before the winning line, the winner, Flammarion (GER), hung left taking Royal Rank (GB), placed fourth, off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Flammarion (GER).

Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Royal Rank (GB), placed fourth, had lost its front shoes.
