An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving the winner, THEO’S CHARM (IRE), ridden by Rex Dingle and Flowery (IRE), placed second, ridden by Callum Bewley.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved THEO’S CHARM (IRE)’s placing as although Flowery (IRE) had been briefly crowded by Theo's Charm (IRE) approximately three strides from the finish line, given the minimal nature of the interference and the fact that Flowery (IRE) always appeared held inside the final 50 yards, before being beaten a head, the placings remained unaltered.
Dingle was cautioned for careless riding, as he had failed to take sufficient steps to correct his mount from edging left thereby causing interference.
The winner THEO’S CHARM (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Kempton on 26 December 2019 where the gelding was pulled up.
It was noted that Nick Gifford could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form, other than THEO’S CHARM (IRE) appreciated the Heavy going on this occasion.
The gelding was routine tested.
The performance of Sunset Showdown (IRE) which finished fifth, was considered.
The representative of Rebecca Curtis explained that the gelding was unsuited by the Heavy going on this occasion and would appreciate a return to a less testing surface.
Their explanation was noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Callum Bewley reported that Flowery (IRE), placed second, hung left-handed.
