Olly Murphy, the trainer of Compatriot (IRE), reported that he had been unable to fit the tongue strap due to the gelding's unruly behaviour, therefore Compatriot (IRE) ran without it.
He subsequently reported that this did not affect the gelding's performance.
Following concerns raised by the riders at the start regarding the low sun obscuring their vision at the hurdles in the home straight, the Stewards consulted with the Clerk of the Course and ordered these obstacles to be removed for this race.
