Permission was given for Western Zephyr (IRE) and Chanceux (IRE) to go early to post.
The winner Chanceux (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Aintree on 11 November 2023 where the gelding finished eighth of nine runners, beaten by 63 lengths.
Alistair Ralph’s explanation that the gelding settled better on this occasion and appreciated being able to dictate in a small field was noted.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination during routine testing found WESTEN ZEPHYR (IRE), placed fourth, to have bled from the nose.
