An enquiry was held to consider why George Bewley, was running Allez Cool (IRE) here at Hexham on going described as Good (Good to Soft in Places), having declared the gelding a non-runner at Hexham on 15 April 2019 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that in his opinion the ground is softer today than it was on the last occasion.
On the bend after the second last fence, Solid Strike (GB), placed third, edged slightly left which caused Bocasien Desbois (FR), placed fourth, to edge left causing Ueueteotl (FR), unplaced, to be short of room and to be checked, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Solid Strike (GB).
Following the race, Derek Fox reported that The Road Home (IRE), which was pulled up, lost action and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
