An enquiry was held to consider why Fergal O’Brien was running Ocean Cove (IRE) here at Haydock on going described as Good, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Cheltenham on 17 April 2019 and Warwick on 25 April 2019 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer’s representative stated that, in his opinion, the ground was faster than Good at both Cheltenham and Warwick and having walked the course today, felt that the ground here at Haydock was more suitable for Ocean Cove (IRE).
On the way to the start, No Hassle Hoff (IRE) unseated William Marshall, but was caught immediately.
Having been examined by the doctor and the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, both were deemed fit to race.
Following the race, William Marshall reported that in the closing stages his saddle slipped on No Hassle Hoff (IRE), placed fifth.
Sean Bowen reported that Serosevsky (IRE), which was pulled up, stopped quickly and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities.
