The winner, Minella Encore (IRE), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Cheltenham on 13 November 2021, where the gelding was pulled up.
Dr Richard Newland explained that Minella Encore (IRE) benefitted from the first-time application of blinkers on this occasion; the gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Bryony Frost reported that Switch Hitter (IRE), placed third, made a mistake mid- race; Tom Bellamy reported that Outonpatrol (IRE), placed fourth, hung left and Tom George reported that Forgot To Ask (IRE), which was pulled up, was unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Good to Soft on this occasion, and would prefer a quicker surface.
