Prior to this race, William Muir and Chris Grassick were asked to explain the reason why they were running Stockpyle (GB) here at Chepstow on going described as Good, Good to Firm in places, having reported that the colt would prefer an easier surface following its run at Newbury on 21 June 2022 on going with the same description.
William Muir explained that although the going at both courses had been described as Good, Good to Firm in places, in his opinion the going at Newbury was riding quicker than at Chepstow, and having walked the course and found there was some give in the ground he was happy for Stockpyle (GB) to take its chance on this occasion.
His explanation was noted.
