An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start involving the winner, Flying Verse (GB), ridden by Ned Fox, Hitman Fred (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Dylan Johnston and Mr Muldoon (IRE), which was pulled up, ridden by Luke Scott.
A BHA Jockey Coach was also present in the enquiry.
The interference was found to be accidental as Hitman Fred (IRE) edged slightly left-handed shortly after the start had been affected, carrying the slow starting Mr Muldoon (IRE) on to the heels of Flying Verse (GB), resulting in Mr Muldoon (IRE) clipping a heel and becoming briefly unbalanced.
The performance of Mr Muldoon (IRE) which was pulled up, was considered.
Dr Richard Newland’s representative could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The winner, Flying Verse (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 16 February 2023, where the gelding finished third, beaten 25 lengths.
David Dennis could offer no explanation for the improved run.
Flying Verse (GB) was routine tested.
