Cedar Hill (IRE) wore earplugs throughout the preliminaries which were removed upon arrival at the start and Restandbethankful (GB) wore earplugs throughout the race.
On the bend leaving the back straight Gower Prince (GB), placed third, made contact with the running rail and shifted left-handed crowding the winner Stroll On By (IRE) for room and caused it to bump the hindquarters of Great Samourai (FR), unplaced, which became unbalanced as a result, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of Great Samourai (FR), which started favourite and finished unplaced beaten 47½ lengths, was considered.
Adam Pogson's explanation that the gelding had been unsuited by being unable to dominate in a strongly run race and was also 7lb's higher in a much more competitive contest, was noted.
The Veterinary Officer examined Great Samourai (FR), during routine testing and had nothing to report.
The winner, Stroll On By (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Warwick on 6 May 2024 where the gelding finished sixth of seven, beaten by 28¼ lengths.
The representative of Charlie Longsdon’s explanation that the gelding had benefited by being dropped back in trip from 2 miles and 4 furlongs to 2 miles and 1 furlong on this occasion, was noted.
