An enquiry was held to consider interference on the bend entering the back straight involving Snougar (IRE), placed seventh, ridden by Brian Hughes, the winner, Eurkash (FR), ridden by Gavin Sheehan and Jembug Drummer (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Charlie Price.
Price was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to shift left-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear, carrying Eurkash (FR) across the running of Snougar (IRE), causing Hughes to take a significant check against the rail for a number of strides.
At the first fence in the back straight, Jembug Drummer (IRE), placed sixth, jumped into the back of Yourholidayisover (IRE), placed second, which had shifted slightly right-handed, resulting in Jembug Drummer (IRE) being badly hampered, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Yourholidayisover (IRE).
The performance of Arizona Glory (GB), which started favourite and was pulled up, was considered.
It was noted that the representative of Evan Williams could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance other than the report from the rider that Arizona Glory (GB) was never travelling.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Brian Hughes reported that Snougar (IRE), placed seventh, made a bad jumping error at the last fence.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Jembug Drummer (IRE), placed sixth, lost its left-fore shoe.
