Pat Smullen completed a swift double at Tipperary when driving Johnny Lynch to victory in the Pride Of Tipperary Festival 2013 Handicap.
Dermot Weld's 5-2 favourite was kept to the rail by Smullen, and though Sylvan Mist was a real danger throughout the last half furlong, Johnny Lynch prevailed by a neck.< Abbakova struck at the fourth attempt when making virtually all the running in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.
Smullen had the 11-10 favourite away smartly and she kept up a strong gallop throughout, coming home two and three-quarter lengths ahead of Celtic Man with newcomer Little Fastnet third.
The third sprint race on the card, the Tipperary Family Day Saturday 13th July Handicap, saw the runners spread all the way across the track in the final furlong.
Johnny Murtagh had kept Majestic Timeline (13-2 favourite) up the stands' side rail, and that proved to be the right tactic, as she battled on well to beat South Ring by a neck.
Zarkyr made heavy weather of justifying odds-on favouritism when getting up in the final furlong in the Follow TipperaryRaces On Twitter Maiden.
Mick Halford's 4-7 chance looked to be beaten when fully off the bridle in third on the turn for home.< Cardinal Palace had travelled nicely up to that point and took up the running a furlong and a half out, but Declan McDonogh galvanised Zarkyr close home and he finished with a rattle to score by a length and a half.< Knockcroghery ran out a game winner of the Pride Of Tipperary Gathering Handicap.
Gary Halpin had to shove the 6-1 chance along in the early stages to keep her position near the head of affairs, but she was quickly travelling well after that.
Angled out after the home turn, John Nicholson's charge picked up well to come home a length and three quarters ahead of Sword Of Honour
