Royal Ascot form took a knock when Few Are Chosen easily dismissed the odds-on Wolferton Handicap third Waydownsouth to spring a surprise in the conditions race at Sligo.
Tracey Collins' mare, a course and distance winner, was coming into the '4th August Ladies Day At Sligo' Race off the back of a last-of-19 finish at the Curragh and started the outsider of three at 11-2.
She was settled in second by Michael Hussey, but was going best on the final bend and saw off Waydownsouth, who held every chance, by nine lengths.
John Murphy landed the feature race thanks to a commanding performance from Gossamer Seed in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap.
Ben Curtis sent the grey (8-1) past leader Kateeva coming off the final bend and she cleared away to score by six lengths, with Allegra Tak taking second spot.< Blue Mimosa was evens favourite for the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Auction Maiden and obliged in the hands of Sam James, but it was a close-run thing.
Kevin Prendergast's filly led for most of the way and looked to be keeping her rivals at bay entering the final furlong, but Salacious Sally put in a late charge and there was only a head in it at the line.< Core Element returned from a 20-month lay-off to win at Dundalk last month and Shane Buggy's filly followed up in some style in the Racecourse Signage Handicap.
Gary Carroll always had her up with the pace and the 6-1 shot led a quarter of a mile out before running on strongly to prevail by two lengths.
Ronan Whelan took command some way out on Gra Geal Mo Chroi in the Sligo Claiming Race and Austin Leahy's 11-8 favourite ran on with zest to score by a length and three-quarters.
Denis Hogan's recent winner Norah Starr (14-1) defied a 7lb hike in the ratings to follow up in the Sligo Champion Handicap, coming home three and a half lengths clear under Seamie Heffernan.
