The in-foal Takeyourcapoff is blossoming at present and supplemented last month's Perth win with success in the Athlone Handicap Hurdle at Roscommon.
Given a typically patient ride form Paul Carberry, Gordon Elliott's 6-1 chance wasn't allowed to hit the front until jumping the final flight, and Carberry kept her going to prevail by four and a half lengths from Mount Gunnery < Shutter Island s seconds at Navan and Wexford set the standard in the Follow Us On Facebook Maiden Hurdle, and he gained a deserved victory in the hands of Mark Walsh.
Having touched over three and two out in a share of the lead with Imperial Plan the 7-4 favourite eased clear approaching the last and had enough in reserve to see off Reflet Ambre by seven lengths.< Ellie Mia (5-1) completed a double for jockey Andrew Lynch in the Regan's Bar & Quinntin's Restaurant Maiden Hurdle.
The Jim Dreaper-trained mare disputed the lead with Easter Hunt in the early part of the straight, but she was travelling much the better and kicked clear between the last two, en route to scoring by four and three-quarter lengths.
Lynch's braced kicked off when Olwenbrook left all previous form a long way behind to land the www.roscommonracecourse.ie Maiden Hurdle (Div 1).
Sent off at 40-1, the seven-year-old mare took the lead off favourite Overcall at the final flight and stuck her neck out to cross the line a length and three-quarters ahead of fellow outsider Don't Budge Me
Danny Mullins may have been out of luck on Overcall but, wearing the same colours of owner Barry Connell, he gained compensation when Ballychorus successfully reverted to timber in division two.
Trained by Mags Mullins, the 3-1 chance showed good resolution to inflict a two-and-a-half-length defeat on Voluptueux < Imperial Breeze only had five runs in the three years leading in to the Ivan Connaughton Auctioneer Handicap Hurdle, but gave Ian McCarthy a great spin, registering a five-and-a-half-length triumph as a 25-1 shot.
