Review navan 17th Apr
Multiple Group One winner Fame And Glory set out on a new campaign with a workmanlike performance to win the Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan.
Running for the first time in the colours of Fitri Hay, the Aidan O'Brien-trained five-year-old (2-9 favourite) was settled towards the back as Fictional Account led the way in the Listed contest.
Jamie Spencer delivered Fame And Glory with a smooth challenge in the straight and wasn't too hard on him as he edged ahead close home to win by half a length from the fast-finishing Nebula Storm
Jessie Harrington's filly Siren's Song (5-1) got on top late on to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Salsabil Stakes.
Fran Berry brought her with a run down the outside and she came out best in a three-way finish with Asheerah and favourite Kirinda beating the former by a length and a half.
Wayne Lordan notched a double completed by the victory of David Wachman's newcomer Fire Lily in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.
The juvenile (5-2) got a nice tow from favourite Danziger and when pulled out she quickened up between horses to score going away by a length and a quarter.
Lordan also won on David Nagle's Maarek (5-1 favourite), who appreciated the drop to a sprint trip in the Navan Chairman Handicap, finding a sharp turn of foot to score by a length and three-quarters.
John Oxx's Zanughan (2-5 favourite) finished third in a decent contest at the Curragh on debut a fortnight ago and stepped up on that to take the Dunderry (C & G) Maiden by a cosy length under Johnny Murtagh.
Both Chris Hayes and trainer Jim McCabe got off the mark for the season when Lechevalier Choisi (5-1) ran away with the Irish Racing Calendar Maiden, winning by four lengths after sweeping clear a furlong and a half out.
