Review limerick 13th Mar
Three odds-on favourites were turned over as Limerick's meeting turned into a nightmare for favourite backers.
Point Of Light (2-7), Lass Na Tintri (1-2) and Romenesco (4-7) all bit the dust before punters were able to get one back with victory by 8-13 saver Our Girl Salley in the concluding bumper.
Point Of Light could only finish fourth as Rory Anna sprang a 20-1 surprise in the 13th April Student Raceday Hurdle in convincing fashion.
Kevin Coleman's mount cruised to the front before the last and stayed on strongly beat Are You The One by four lengths.
"She was working well and likes that ground. She wants goodish ground although not too firm," said trainer John Walsh.
Edward O'Grady's Guzzle An Go (12-1) floored Liss Na Tintri in the Munster Supporters Club Mares Maiden Hurdle.
The latter led turning for home but was headed by Guzzle An Go at the second last and Andrew McNamara's mount went on to score by five and a half lengths.
Then to rub salt into the wounds, Romanesco was pushed into second by Prince Of Forwards in the St Patrick's Day Maiden Hurdle.
Alan Crowe sent Pat Hughes' charge to the front from the hot-pot at the final flight and kept on win by four lengths.
"It was a good performance as I didn't think he would handle the sticky ground," said Hughes.
Paul Townend brought Night Alliance (11-2) with a perfectly-timed run to land the 11th April Racing In Red Handicap Hurdle.
The Donie Hassett-trained gelding hit the front before the last and strode away by 10 lengths from Red Basil with 4-1 favourite Final Question third.
The 4-1 joint-favourite Carlowsantana took the Limerickraces.ie Online Booking Handicap Hurdle under Bobby Molloy for trainer Stephen Nolan.
Odds-on backers were finally rewarded when Katie Walsh brought Our Girl Salley home by 13 lengths for trainer Prunella Dobbs in the Rockview (Q.R.) Mares Ladies INH Flat Race.
