Review limerick 12th Mar
< Ainm Spartacus made every yard of the running to land the feature 5th April Student Raceday Hurdle at Limerick as hotpot Rigidity flopped.
Kieran Purcell's 22-1 shot jumped fluently throughout for Tom Doyle and was left in the clear when only danger Knockcroghery crashed out two flights from home.
With 4-11 favourite Rigidity never a threat and only able to stay on for third, Ainm Spartacus was untroubled in sauntering home by seven lengths.
There was another surprise for favourite-backers when hotpot Shifa failed to land a blow against Gerdalia (6-1) in the Munster Supporters Club Mares Maiden Hurdle.
Martin Ferris took the lead three out on the Sean Aherne-trained winner, who shook off the attentions of Apalachicola and had no problems keeping Shifa at bay by seven lengths.< Harpsy Cord who was well beaten by Cheltenham Festival hope So Young at Leopardstown over Christmas, showed he has plenty of ability with an easy success in the Tote Jackpot Rollover (C & G) Maiden Hurdle.
Andrew Lynch was in no hurry on Jim Dreaper's charge (4-7 favourite), who hit the front at the second-last and swept clear to beat outsider Rockshandy by eight lengths.
Long-time leader Muzak (8-1) looked a sitting duck in the straight but kept on stoutly for Sean Flanagan to hold Whiskey And Rye by two and a half lengths in the Mothers Day Weekend Handicap Hurdle.
Katie's Jem's form wasn't exactly inspiring and she was 20-1 for the first division of the Tote Daily Double Rollover Handicap Hurdle, but she found a nice gap on the inner and slipped through to win by a length and three-quarters under Bryan Cooper.
The second division went to Bold Present (11-4 favourite), a winner at Navan last time, who was sent straight to the front by Paul Townend and never saw another horse in scoring by 11 lengths.
