Review kilbeggan 12th May
< Mr Picotee made a successful return to action in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Handicap Hurdle at Kilbeggan.
The eight-year-old was last seen in a Grade Three novice chase at Gowran Park in October so it was no surprise that he was available to back at 12-1.< Jaime Sommers went to the front apparently full of running rounding the home turn, but Andrew Lynch was in his slipstream on Mr Picotee, who responded when asked to go and win his race and came home two and a quarter lengths to the good.
Little separated five as they jumped the last in the Belvedere House, Gardens & Park Handicap Chase, but Riviera Sun found most to land the biggest prize of the night.
Henry de Bromhead's 5-1 shot denied game front-runner Smadynium by a length in a blanket finish.
Sean Flanagan produced the Noel Meade-trained Art Of Synergy (3-1 joint-favourite) to challenge at the last in the Kinnegad Maiden Hurdle and he pulled out slightly more than Great Khan to prevail by a length and a quarter.< Nessun Dorma (2-1 joint-favourite) struck on his jumping bow for Willie Mullins in the Tullamore Maiden Hurdle, and Mullins and jockey Paul Townend followed up with Robin Des Foret in the Irish Farmers Journal Novice Hurdle.
The 4-7 favourite won a bumper and a maiden hurdle but still seems far from the finished article although, having made the running, he knew enough to dig deep when pressed by Hidden Charmer to go away again for a length-and-a-quarter verdict.< Black Zambezi has never really fulfilled his early potential but put his best foot forward in the Sean Hughes Memorial Mullingar Park Hotel Beginners Chase.
The 10-1 chance was always to the fore and saw off Prince Garyantle before the last en route to a six-and-a-half-length success.< Champayne Lady contested good bumpers in December and dropped in class to land the www.kilbegganraces.com (Pro/Am) Flat Race.
