Review downpatrick 23rd Sep
< Marinero s authoritative victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase was the highlight of a Downpatrick double for Henry de Bromhead.
Bryan Cooper sent the 4-6 favourite to the front shortly after the start and they never saw another rival.< Taglietelle closed up three out, but another slick leap carried Marinero clear and Cooper hardly broke sweat for his mount to coast home 10 lengths to the good.< Show And Go (10-1) was one of the more experienced over fences in the Strictly For Beginners Chase and that came to the fore as he came out best in a thrilling finish.
There were five separated by little more than a length as they dashed up the run-in, but De Bromhead's charge found most to beat Hes Our Robin by two and a half lengths.< Sir Raston banished an unfortunate experience on his jumping debut to the memory with victory in the September Maiden Hurdle.
Dermot Weld's 6-1 shot was brought down at Kilbeggan but has since finished third at Dundalk and that bit of Flat pace told at the business end as he moved past Field Robin for a two-length call.< Double Take and Forever Dylan jumped the last as one in the Kelso Racecourse, Being Part Of It Maiden Hurdle and settled down to fight it out on the run to the line.
Both gave their all but it was 12-1 chance Double Take, in the hands of Cian Collins, who prevailed by a length.< Mister To Mister had never even made the frame under Rules leading into the Scottish Borders Handicap Chase but battled well to spring a 33-1 surprise, beating Paudi The Punter by four and a quarter lengths.< Tornado Watch (4-5 favourite) made it three from three since joining Jonathan Fogarty with a determined triumph in the Warm Welcome Handicap Hurdle, while Kagney made all to justify 6-4 favouritism in the 'Daisy Lodge Cancer Fund For Children' Fashion Show Flat Race.
