Review clonmel 29th Oct
< Vic Venturi secured his first victory in exactly three years when making every yard of the running in the Wilderness Chase at Clonmel.
The nine-year-old looked destined for big things after a winning debut over fences in a Graded event at Galway on this date three years ago, but he had failed to get his head in front since.
Sent off at 11-10 in the hands of Paddy Flood, the Dessie Hughes inmate travelled strongly and powered clear to score by six lengths.
Hughes said: "I thought Vic Venturi may blow up today but he did it well and will go for the Becher Chase at Aintree next."
Tom Cooper's bumper winner Rossdara opened her account over obstacles in the Cahir Mares Maiden Hurdle, giving the trainer's son Bryan his first winner.
"I'm delighted for Bryan as he has had numerous placed horses on the Flat," said Cooper senior.
"Rossdara jumped impeccably and did it well.
"She'll be aimed at mares' races now and we'd love to get black type for her eventually."
There was a thrilling finish to the Cashel Maiden Hurdle as 5-1 shot Mojito Royale edged out Goban Saor by a short-head.
Winning trainer Eoin Doyle said: "Mojito Royale is a summer horse but I thought this was a good opportunity to win a maiden & ndash; he'll be left off now for a break."< Fiery Oscar (14-1) sprung a surprise when opening his account at the sixth attempt in the Powerstown Desmene Handicap Hurdle.< West Ship Master (20-1) took the Fethard Handicap Hurdle, while the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase went to 20-1 chance Ransom
Tom and Patrick Mullins combined to take the closing Grahamnorris.com Memorial INH Flat Race with the JP McManus-owned Oscar Carrara (8-11 favourite).
