Review clonmel 28th Oct
Hot favourite Whatuthink had to make do with minor honours as Billy Harney's Leanne ran away with the Wilderness Chase at Clonmel.
The former is rated in the 140s over both hurdles and fences but had no answer to his front-running rival.
Leanne (8-1) was in command a long way from home under Robbie Colgan and kept up the gallop in the home straight to score by 10 lengths.
"I needed to get a run into her but she was fit," said Harney.
"She was a stone wrong in the handicap with Whatuthink. We'll see what Mr O'Brien does (the handicapper), the plans are in his hands."
There was a thrilling finish to the Powerstown Desmene Handicap Hurdle, with 7-1 shot Le Reveur recording a short-head win from Pride Of The Lions in the hands of Brian O'Connell.
Winning trainer Philip Fenton, saddling his first winner since the ill-fated Hairy Molly at Kilbeggan in August, said: "It usually favours the near-side (Pride Of The Lions) here so I wasn't sure if he'd held on. At long last anyway we're off the cold list.
"This fella is an eight-year-old and he is a long time a maiden over hurdles. He won three races on the Flat in France and cost a lot of money at one stage."
Colin Bowe's Our Victoria (5-1) got the better of favourite Galianna in a nip-and-tuck finish to the Cahir Mares Maiden Hurdle.
Bowe said: "She'll probably go for a novice hurdle now. I thought the trip would be a bit short but she is tough."< Peqeno Diablo (9-1) took the Cashel Maiden Hurdle, while 25-1 shot Cool Quest routed her rivals in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Beginners Chase.
The latter's trainer Terence O'Brien said: "She jumped well at home but if she'd been fourth or fifth I'd have been happy.
"She was a crazy price, she is better than that as she had some great runs over hurdles. She always runs well fresh and we had got plenty of work into her. She is well-handicapped over hurdles so we'll mix it with her."
