Review bellewstown 30th Aug
< On The Go Again registered his second victory this week with a gritty display in the Drogheda Traders Plate Handicap at Bellewstown.
Burdened with a 6lb penalty for Monday's Roscommon triumph, the Michael Mulvany-trained 11-2 shot appeared likely for a minor role when Magen's Moon and then Thunder Crash hit the front in the home straight.
On The Go Again responded really well to all of Gary Carroll's urgings, though, and outbattled Thunder Crash in the dying strides to prevail by a short head.< Poetic Light maintained his forward momentum by claiming top honours in the Foran Equine Irish EBF Auction Maiden.
Ger Lyons' youngster stepped forward between his first two starts and did so again, with Colin Keane making his own pace on the 7-4 favourite, who registered an emphatic length-and-three-quarter defeat of Maunganui < Abamanova confirmed the promise of her debut effort with an authoritative victory in the Collierstown Maiden.
Third in a warm Curragh maiden on her first taste of competitive action, the Willie McCreery-trained even-money favourite was always close to the pace here and stretched four lengths away from Daliyah without too much fuss, and a trip to Ayr for a Group Three could be next.< Accladora went into the Awards And Gifts Claiming Maiden with a rating of 44 but sprung a 66-1 shock.
Danny Sheehy swept round the outside on the turn for home and Tom McCourt's filly finished off to good effect to account for Hit The Silk by three-quarters of a length.
Sheehy completed a big-priced brace courtesy of Bert Leaf (20-1) in the Eva-Tec Ltd Handicap (Div 2), with the first instalment going the way of 12-1 chance Mohayyen
Returning to the minimum trip worked the oracle for Haqeeba (10-1), who bounced back to form to dispose of Olaudah by two and a half lengths in the Holcroft Peugeot Drogheda 40th Anniversary Handicap.
