< Daymooma won a dramatic running of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Ballinrobe after two horses ended up on the floor when it tightened up in the closing stages.
Chris Hayes brought Kevin Prendergast's charge (7-1) round the outside to challenge off the final bend, but she plunged to the right and suddenly Pat Smullen had no room on Late Rosebud
With eventual runner-up Pastiches edging left at the same time, Late Rosebud was the meat in the sandwich and fell, bringing down Ronan Whelan on Balmont Belle Fortunately the horses and jockeys emerged unscathed.
The stewards held an inquiry and left the result unchanged, Daymooma having gone on to win by two and a half lengths.
There was a happier outcome to the Eamon Sheridan Plant Hire Handicap when trainer Paul Flynn, best known for big winners over jumps, returned to the saddle to score on the level on his well-supported The Ring Is King (6-1), who shot to the front at the furlong pole and won by two lengths.
Eric McNamara's eight-year-old Air Chief (9-2) has been effective on his return to the Flat and followed up a Roscommon victory by carrying top-weight to a ready success in the Audi Ballina Handicap, seizing the advantage two furlongs out to score by a length and a half under the trainer's son Emmet.
Joe Murphy's hot favourite Jack Daddy (evens) was always prominent in the Ladies Day At Ballinrobe Maiden and kept on well after leading three furlongs out to win by two and a quarter lengths in the hands of Shane Foley.
When the action switched to the jumps Ebazan who finished second to Royal Ascot winner Declaration Of War on the level at the Curragh last September when with John Oxx, took the Purcell Construction Maiden Hurdle.
Now with Conor O'Dwyer, the 4-1 chance led off the home bend under Denis Hogan and held Dawerann s late charge by half a length without looking likely to be caught.
