The Michael Halford-trained Zunera justified her short price in the opening five furlong maiden at Dundalk this evening when registering a cosy success.
Shane Foley produced the Aga Khan's filly to lead a furlong out and she kept on well under 'hands and heels' to record a length-and-three-quarters success over Well Done Me
The 8/11 winner had shown plenty of speed when just giving way close home at Naas last time and Halford said:-
“I thought after Naas she had enough speed for five although she'd have no problem going back to six either.
“It's nice to win a two-year-old race with her. That's my first five-furlong winner, and possibly my first runner over the trip, for his Highness.
“She has a lot of pace and I think she'll mature well over the winter. She's still high behind and you'd imagine she'll grow more. She could be smart next year over five or six.
“Shane said she travelled super and he never had any bother.”
