Wifes Pet marks Jones' second pro win
Nineteen year old Robert Jones recorded his second winner as a professional jockey, and his third in total, when steering the Eric McNamara trained The Wifes Pet to win the Templemore Mares Maiden Hurdle at Thurles today.
Jones produced the daughter of Environment Friend to lead on the inner entering the straight and before staying on well for a ten lengths win over Blazing Tempo
McNamara later praised the winning ride and said “Robert (Jones) is very good value for his 7lbs claim and he'll get his chance.”
Regarding The Wifes Pet, McNamara said “She got the 'run of race' today but I probably got the trip wrong with her previously as she is more of a two mile mare. ”
