Champion Jockey Ruby Walsh completed a double at Tramore today, winning the Marthas Pub, Tramore Mares Maiden Hurdle on the Willie Mullins trained 11/8 favourite Escape Footwear
The point-to-point winning daughter of Mahler was successful on racecourse debut at Limerick in July and following today's win, Mullins stated âshe's a very strong mare and has had five runs in point-to-points (for trainer Colin Bowe) in the middle of winter. She has held her condition fantastically and looks very strong after that season.
"Her pedigree suggested that she'd love this summer ground and being a point-to-pointer we had no issue with the trip or her jumping.
âIt was a good performance carrying the eight pounds penalty and is a two and a half mile plus horse as she gallops all day. I'll keep going with her now until the ground softens up.â
