There was an 8th winner of the winter all-weather series for Sarah Lynam when Tyrconnell bolted up in the Crowne Plaza Hotel Dundalk Handicap.
The Bated Breath seven-year-old is in great order at present, and with Shane Crosse back aboard he secured a second success in three outings.
Joint favourites Bobby K and Settle For Bay gave their supporters a run for their money in second and fourth but nothing could live with Tyrconnell.
The winner raced in the rear of mid-division, and he was ninth two furlongs out.
Making good headway travelling well to the dispute the lead a furlong out, Tyrconnell was niggled along and led inside the final furlong, staying on strongly to easily win by two and a half lengths.
“That was brilliant. He loves it up here and Shane gets a great tune out of him,” said Lynam.
“I think the last day things just didn't pan out for him. He's a very deserving winner.
“It was quite cosy, I was surprised at that, and I think he's just a little bit clever. He enjoyed that little bit of trouble up the straight, it keeps him sweet.
“I thought the handicapper had been a bit mean but I can't really complain now. Hopefully he goes easy on him after that.”
Sam Ewing, rider of St George's Head trained by Kieran P. Cotter, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his saddle slipped.
A.J. Slattery, rider of King Lenox (GB) trained by W. Ross, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount clipped heels after about a furlong.
Andrew McNamara, trainer of Red Striker reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge was lame post race.
