Doneraile, Co Cork trainer John Joe Walsh registered his first winner of the season when his Trixie caused a 16/1 surprise to take the Holycross Handicap Hurdle at Thurles today.

Ridden by Eddie Power, the daughter of Windsor Castle led from five out eventually recording a head win over The Dew At Night

Afterwards Walsh reported “the ground was too heavy at Sligo for Trixie the last day and I was worried about it coming here today. We'll aim for another handicap again next.”
