Triumphant well named
Aidan O’Brien dominated the one mile maiden at Gowran Park as Triumphant (4/1 to 7/2) led home a one-two-three for the Ballydoyle supremo.
The market-favoured Secretary Of State came home a fast-finishing second at 11/8 having drifted from even money, with Mannheim (7/1 to 9/2) taking third.
Triumphant, a juvenile by Danehill Dancer, stepped up on his initial fourth place in a seven furlong maiden at Gowran Park two months ago.
Colm O’Donoghue sent him into the lead a furlong out and he kept up to his work to score from his stablemates by a head and two lengths.
O’Donoghue said: “He obviously had the benefit of a run.
“He’s tough and genuine and galloped away out to the line. He’s an improving horse.”
