Torcedor rounded off a fantastic week for Jessica Harrington, as he made it two from two since joining the Commonstown yard, in the Group 3 Coolmore Vintage Crop Stakes.
Harrington of course won the Irish National with Our Duke last Monday, scoring with Tilly's Chilli at Limerick yesterday, while she took Listed honours with Khukri earlier on the card.
Torcedor was sent off a 4/1 chance today, after he blitzed his rivals on his debut for Harrington at Leopardstown earlier this month.
Sent straight to the front by Colm O'Donoghue (completing a double after earlier partnering Khukri), the son of Fastnet Rock made all.
He was ridden with a furlong and a half to race, and he kept on well from there, going on to score by a length and a half. Order Of St George who was sent off the 4/5 favourite, ran on well to take second under Seamie Heffernan for Aidan O'Brien, while Twilight Payment was half a length back in third.
"Colm said he had come on from Leopardstown," revealed Harrington.
"I put my neck on the line and supplemented him for this. I thought if we could get third it would be great.
"What I'm really pleased about is that the ground is very different from Leopardstown and I wasn't sure if it was just the slow ground there that helped him.
"He seemed to travel on that ground perfectly and seemed to love it. He's grown in confidence.
"He won well at Leopardstown but this was a big step up in class and he had to improve.
"I know it was his second run of the year and Order Of St George's first, so he's going to come forward from there, but I loved the way he stayed every yard of it.
"They went a good gallop and started taking him on from the far side. He stayed at it all the way to the line.
"I'll have a conference with the owners and see where we go but I'd say we'll probably like to go to Ascot with him.
"If he goes on improving it will be brilliant. He's a very relaxed horse.
"I don't think he'll be going jumping for a while! That's why he was sent to me but I think that's gone out the window."
Paddy Power go 16/1 about Torcedor for the Ascot Gold Cup.
