In-foal Clairmc (11/1) gained a timely first career win today, landing Wexford's visitwexford.ie Handicap Chase for jockey Ricky Doyle, trainer Gavin Cromwell and owner Peter McCarrick.
The daughter of Walk In The Park had managed four placings but no win from 14 previous runs but today got off the mark on her second chase start, beating 13 year old Wrong Direction by four lengths.
Cromwell's juvenile Snellen has Royal Ascot entries on Thursday and Friday and following today's success, jockey Doyle said “Gavin and Keith (Donoghue, jockey) felt she didn’t quite see out the 2m5f in Tramore the last day so the plan was to bide our time today.
“You can do that around here as they get racing early and you can have one go up the straight.
“She jumped a bit careful early on but they were going a gallop and she warmed up to it. She threw in some super jumps on the final circuit when I needed it.
“She’s in foal and we wanted to keep her as sweet as possible and ride her to come home. She might have another run or two.”
