Third Time Lucky at Galway for Tasman
He won three times in his days with King of Ballybrit, Dermot Weld, but Tasman hadn't scored at Galway until today on his third visit to the venue and now under the care of Liam McAteer, the chestnut landed the Guinness Beginners Chase under Barry Geraghty.
Favourite, Uncle Junior s jumping let him down and he could only manage fourth as Tasman made the best of his way home from the fourth last. The seven to one shot eventually saw off Beautiful Vision by four and a half lengths.
The success was bitter sweet as McAteer explained, "A lot of praise must go to Andrew Lynch who is out injured. He schooled this horse extensively at home. We won't be in a hurry to run him again and we'll just enjoy today. Marie Cusack, the owner, lost her husband, John, through serious illness last year so I'm delighted for her."
