The Dara Man shrugged aside the fact that he hadn't been seen out since last October to land the SwissMPC Medical Device And Pharmaceutical Consulting Handicap Chase at Kilbeggan for the in-form John Ryan yard.
One of the outsiders of the seven horse field at 12/1, The Dara Man enjoyed himself up front, and try as he might Winding River couldn't reel him in, yielding by two lengths at the finish.
"He had a knock and was off for a while but we have a great mile and a half plough gallop at home, which is inside our point-to-point course, and we can get horses very fit," said Ryan.
"We have a great bunch of horses getting ready for Listowel - Grange Walk, Mount Frisco and Lucid Dreams - and he was working with those, so I knew he was ready coming here.
"I thought he had a serious chance and Danny gave him an absolute peach of a ride."
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined A Wave Of The Sea trained by J.P.Broderick, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
