Last year’s winner Stealthy Tom (3/1 fav) and 20/1 outsider Broken Ice had a great tussle in the BoyleSports Handicap Chase with the former winning on the nod.
Both horses raced just behind the pace and came through to dispute the lead on the approach to the final fence. They were inseparable on the run-in but it was the Simon Torrens-ridden Stealthy Tom who had his head down where it mattered with a nose the margin of victory.
It was a third win in all at Killarney for the Yeats gelding.
Winning trainer Enda Bolger said: “He’s a grand horse. He won this last year and he won over the banks at Punchestown in February. He was just touched off in the La Touche which I think is going to be his game down the track.
“He stays well and needed every bit of the two and a half miles there. The handicapper shouldn’t give him too much for that.
“This was the plan and I love winning here. He’s only had three runs this year so we’ll probably find something else for him.”
