Jaime Sommers has a bit to go to match her mother but she got off the mark on her hurdling debut at Kilbeggan tonight when running out a cosy winner.
The daughter of Milan and star mare Solerina was a well-backed 5/2 shot (from 9/2) on course and was given a confident ride by Rachael Blackmore.
She was sent to the front three from home and quickened clear of 15/8 favourite Borderlinedecision before the last flight to record a five-and-a-half length success.
Jaime Sommers was well held on her first three bumpers start but ran much better when encountering better ground at Down Royal last time, finishing second at 40/1.
“The better ground has made a difference to her,” said Bowe.
“She's the first winner for Solerina and hopefully she can keep improving. If she's half as good as the mother she'll do.”
Owner/breeder John Bowe added:- “Solerina is due to visit Soldier Of Fortune on Saturday and that's a nice boost to the pedigreee.”
