Solwhit impresses at Punchestown
The Charles Byrnes trained Solwhit make it an impressive season debut after he landed the Dobbins & Madigans At Punchestown Grade 1 Hurdle.
Davy Russell who took the riding honours settled his mount in third and made his move to challenge for the lead at the last.
The pair were soon in front and quickened clear for a two and half length win over Muirhead and Hurricane Fly
Winning trainer Byrnes said afterwards: “He was impressive there. If we weren’t going to beat Hurricane Fly today we never were.”
“My lad doesn’t take a lot of work to get him right. I was delighted with the pace of the race and he loves coming between horses.”
“He’s entered in the Fighting Fifth and that’s in two weeks time which is a problem. If he doesn’t go there we’ll wait and run him over the Christmas.”
Boyle Sports prices for the 2010 Champion Hurdle are:
Binocular (5/1-7/2)
Solwhit (15/2- 4/1)
Hurricane Fly (3/1- 4/1)
