The Gordon Elliott trained Shrapnel followed up his maiden hurdle win at Galway with another battling success when over-turning 141 rated Turban (5/4f) to win the Premier Jump Weekend Hurdle at Fairyhouse today.
Ridden by Davy Russell, the son of Flemensfirth moved to the front entering the home straight and responded well to Russell's urgings to run out the three lengths winner over Turban.
Elliott later stated “Shrapnel has plenty of ability but is probably quirky enough. It's another winner on the board though and we'll find another conditions hurdle for him now before he goes jumping fences.
“He goes on good ground so we'll probably keep him over hurdles this season and he can always go chasing next summer.
