Light-weight She's Got Grit landed a touch (10s into 7s) and a nice prize when successful in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Mares Handicap Chase under Adrian Heskin at Fairyhouse.
He explained: "She was good and tough. They went no gallop and it didn't suit me to be in front turning in.
"She stays well and hopefully she improves away."
Terence O'Brien trains She's Got Grit for Anne Mellerick and the Flemensfirth mare got the better of the patiently ridden Fantastic Gold (Danny Mullins replacing Davy Russell who suffered a nose-bleed) by two and a quarter lengths. That Martin Cullinane contender had arrived there looking a possible winner at the last.
Favourite Victrix Gale was found wanting at this trip and ended up coming home fourth whilst the gambled-on Liz's D'Estruval was beaten when falling at the last. (GC & EM)
