The Andy Slattery trained Sharjah (13/8f) has proven one of the success stories of this Winter Series at Dundalk and claimed his fourth win in the period this evening in the Happy New Year To All Our Patrons Handicap.
Ridden by Donnacha O'Brien, the son of Shamardal again showed plenty will to win under a strong drive, to shake off Canon Law by a neck.
Sharjah, which is one of the emirates of the United Arab Emirates, now boasts recent Dundalk winter form figures of '2122214-11' and following the win, Slattery quipped "it was worth coming back again!
"He'll have one more run in two weeks time and that'll be it. He'll go on his holidays. He ran here last March in a two-mile amateur race and he's been on the go since."
