Shakalakaboomboom gives Henderson treble
Nicky Henderson and Barry Geraghty put the seal on an incredible treble at Punchestown as Shakalakaboomboom defied a last-fence blunder to get back up and pip the 9/4 favourite Beautiful Sound and Davy Russell by a short head.
Shakalakaboomboom picked up the lead three out from front-runner Chasing Cars At that stage his main rival looked to be Beautiful Sound who travelled wide throughout.
The duo jumped the last almost the length of the fence apart but Geraghty picked his Anshan gelding off the floor after a poor jump to gain the verdict.
Nicky Henderson said: “It's terrific to round off the season like this. It was a terrifically brave effort having come back from eating grass at the last.
"That last fence frightens me to bits here. A lot of races change after it. This horse will be turned out to grass next week!”
The winner was returned at 14/1. Fast-finishing Taking Stock finished third with Sarteano fourth.
