Sea Music made a successful transition to fences when taking the Sustainable Style Ladies Competition Beginners Chase in good style at Kilbeggan.
The Emmet Mullins-trained gelding gained some experience in point-to-points before winning a maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe last summer and was sent off a 7/1 chance in this 2m4f event.
The son of Sea Moon put in a generally fine round of jumping under Donagh Meyler, making most and ridden out to assert on the run-in for a near five lengths verdict over Dutch Schultz
Meyler said, “He gave a bold display around Ballinrobe one day and he did the same today. He jumped super bar the last with a circuit to go and it’s great to ride a winner for the Mee family.
“It was a 0-116 beginners today and he did it well. Hopefully he can come on from it.
“He’d probably have his work cut out to win a normal beginners even this time of year. It’s good for him to get into this type of restricted beginners race and hopefully he’ll get a bit of confidence from it.
“It’s lovely good ground with a little ease in it.”
