Gavin Ryan earned the plaudits after a finely-judged ride on Solar Wave in the concluding mile handicap on the Curragh's card. Trading Point had got first run and went for home in the final furlong under double-seeking Colin Keane.

Ryan was seen getting a tune out of Solar Wave on the outer, though, and the pair made sustained progress to come with their challenge deep in the final furlong.

Trading Point had no more to give close home as Solar Wave swept by in the final strides, to get up by a head at 16/1.

Trading Point went off at 5/1 and Aussie Valentine chased them home in third at 8/1.

Jim Bolger said: “She doesn’t always break that well but when she does she has a chance.

“She has a bit of form on better ground but her favourite ground is with a bit of ease.

“She only has one eye and nobody wanted her at the Sales last month. She is out of a Galileo mare.”

The Stewards received a report from Mr. H.T. Hynes, Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that G.P. Halpin, rider of Massa Lubrens, had weighed in at 1.3 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that this was the case. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that G.P. Halpin was in breach of Rule 231(iii) and having considered his record they suspended him for three race days.
