Russell hit with six day ban

Champion jockey Davy Russell was handed a six day suspension at Down Royal this afternoon for improper riding.
The incident happened after the third last in race five and the Stewards report can be found below.
STEWARDS REPORT
Race 5
The Stewards enquired into an incident after the third last fence involving Rye Martini ridden by D.N. Russell, placed fourth and Howwoulduno ridden by S.E. Butler, placed second, where it appeared that Howwoulduno ran short of room.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D.N.Russell was in breach of Rule 214, having ridden improperly and after considered his record, suspended him for six race days.
